What is Taj Mahotsav?
Taj Mahotsav is a 10-day festival held at Shilpgram, a well-known craft village in Agra; it showcases art, tradition, and culture and revives the old Mughal Era and Nawabi style of Uttar Pradesh.Â
This event was started in 1992 to inspire tourism and showcase India’s rich art, culture, cuisines, dance, and music.Â

Artisans from around every corner of India gather there to display the rich art of India, approx. 400 artisans participate in Taj Mahotsav in Agra, arts such as wood or stone carvings from Tamil Nadu, Papier Mache from South India and Kashmir, Marble and Zardosi work from Agra, Bamboo or Cane work from North East India, Brassware from Moradabad, Wood Carving from Saharanpur, Pottery from Khurja, Chikan work from Lucknow, Hand Printing from Farrukhabad, Kantha Stitch from West Bengal, Silk and Zari work from Banaras, carpets from Bhadohi and Shawls and Carpets from Kashmir and Gujarat.Â

Taj Mahotsav Festival is celebrated in a very royal way; the whole road is decorated in a Shahi manner. You can see Elephants and Camels like a Victory Parade of Mughal Emperors. There are trumpet players, drum beaters, folk dancers, artisans, and craftsmen who also participate in this massive king-size parade! Uttar Pradesh’s AIDS control society understands the importance of awareness, so they use different folk dances to make people aware of AIDS. Every year Taj Mahotsav is celebrated with a theme that has a beautiful message hidden for the world.Â
Taj Mahotsav’s 2017 theme was ‘Virasat Ki Chaav Me (In the Shadow of Heritage)’, where the elegant heritage of India was showcased.

Taj Mahotsav Dates: The dates have been revised, and now Taj Mahotsav in Agra will be held from March 20 to March 29, 2022.Â
Taj Mahotsav Timings: The festival will start from morning 10 AM till evening 10 PM.
Taj Mahotsav Venue: The festival will take place in Shilpgram, a well-known craft village in Agra, it is very near to Taj Mahal Palace.Â
Taj Mahotsav Ticket Price: Free entry for kids below 5 years. The ticket price for Adults is worth INR 40/-, and entry for a group of 100 school students is worth INR 500/-. Foreigners can enter Taj Mahotsav for free!Â
