Postmen are now assisting Aadhar cardholders in updating their numbers on Aadhar cards at their doorstep. Earlier it was a not-so-easy task to get your number linked to your Aadhar card, but now you can easily upgrade phone numbers to your Aadhar. It has been made much simpler now, especially for the ones living in rural areas.Â
The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) and Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) have now formed an association to provide a service of updating phone numbers on Aadhar cards with the assistance of postmen.Â
The service will be available through the network of 650 IPPB branches and 1,46,000 postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks. They are involved in providing banking services in smartphones and biometric devices.Â
Shri J Venkatramu, MD and CEO, India Post Payments Bank, said, “Through Aadhar cards, the government has been able to reach out to crores of people and facilitate them under various schemes such as LPG – PAHAL, MGNREGS etc., for the delivery of Direct Benefit Transfer into their bank account. With linking many other services such as PAN, driving license, EPFO and subsidized ration with Adhar, linking mobile numbers has become critical for all citizens from a utility and security perspective. This service will help in actualizing IPPB’s vision of servicing the undeserved and unbanked areas”.Â
The service is to provide rural areas with security and access to various other governmental schemes.Â
For further, IPPB is also planning for the children enrollment service through their network.
