Surrendered women Naxals from the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra were trained in manufacturing phenyl and launching it as a floor cleaner. These women Naxals of the community have now turned into entrepreneurs.
According to the Gadchiroli Police, 11 former Naxals, including ten females and one male, were trained to make phenyl, and they have started their own business.
The initiative was taken by Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal, starting with a Self-Help Group (SHG) called “Navjeevan Utpadak Sangh” for surrendered women Naxals.
The floor cleaning product is sold under the name “Clean 101”, and the Gadchiroli police department is helping SHG promote the product.
The police also said that the Clean 101 phenyl is of excellent quality and priced much below the market rates of other brands.
Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth in Maharashtra’s Akola has ordered 200 litres of Clean 101 phenyl from the SHG as a first order.
