Though scientists have worked their best to make new vaccines for Covid, people are still abode to follow the rules and covid precautions earlier allotted by the government during the period of Delta Variant of Covid.

What is a new strain of Coronavirus?

The new variant of coronavirus is called Omicron, which is declared a strain of concern by the WHO. There is a rush amongst scientists and researchers to know more and more about the omicron variant. It’s been a week since when the first patient of Omicron was found in South Africa. And within a week, the news headlines are filled with Omicron in India. A virus has many Covid-19 mutant strains, and not every variant is given a name because this is an ongoing process, but the ones given a name are severe. Omicron is a variant of concern as the symptoms behave differently, and also it spreads faster than the other variants.

How does it spread?

Different scientists and researchers have given a separate statement on the spread of the Omicron. Still, according to the Gauteng, a place in South Africa where the first person with Omicron infection was found, states that earlier, the percentage of positive cases was 14%, which has reached 52%.

According to Salim A Abdool Karim, Director, Centre for the Aids Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA) and professor at Columbia University, the variant may spread faster but not be clinically worse.

Many top scientists from WHO declared that though it is early to say that the variant is milder, Omicron can be the dominating variant than the others as it is highly transmissible. Now, we all know about the coronavirus transmission and delta’s spread. But, being faster than all of these, we cannot imagine what all impact it will make.

Symptoms of Omicron

The Corona symptoms of the new strain are pretty similar to the delta as both are derived from a similar virus. But, the latest symptoms of Covid-19’s new strain is categorized in three different stages, and that is-

Treatment for the Omicron virus

During the first wave of the coronavirus and Delta variant, scientists have worked on covid vaccines that have helped cure the infection. These vaccines are not limited to India but are also distributed by the government as they were significantly affected to treat the coronavirus.

The most important question every one of us has in our mind is how long does coronavirus last in the body? On average, it takes 5–6 days from when someone is infected with the virus for symptoms to show. However, it can take up to 14 days.

Also, the Omicron virus can be treated by vaccines, as per recent research. Rest, scientists are working to gain more knowledge on the Omicron.
